I wanted to like this book, and some of it is good. However, I have a big problem with the author suggesting the child can "eat" to " feel ok" if they are scared... not a great lesson for kids. Also there is a glaring typo at the end of our book where a word is wri then and printed twice by accident. No proof read? Ugh.

My 5 year old has been having some anxiety and excessive worry lately over numerous things like worrying about thunderstorms, tornados, rockets going up (we live on the Spacecoast so it occurs a few times a month) and even scorpions. It seems as though she hears someone say something, sees a commercial, etc and then she just latches on to this idea until she can't sleep. She starting asking me before bed about if there would be a rocket tomorrow or a tornado, do scorpions live here etc. I bought this book in the hopes that she would indeed utilize this mantra. I am happy to report that it seems to be working! Whenever she is worried about something, I make sure that we read this book before bed. She reads along out loud as I read the line, "I will be okay." I think she likes the idea of "reading" as much as I like the idea of getting this idea through to her! I definitly recommend this book

My son has emotional up and downs. This book and the rest in the series are SO amazing at helping him we sent them for show and tell. The teachers REALLY loved them!

In general, I really like this book. I love the concept and it is helpful to my son, who tends to overreact and have trouble self-regulating. Other readers have mentioned the glaring error at the end and it bothered me immensely at first. To be fair, I'm an editor, so I have trouble turning that criticism off. I just took a pencil to my copy and made a couple adjustments. Never too early for my kids to learn proofreading marks! LOL! BUT, as another reader also mentioned, I'm really concerned that it says something like, "eating always makes things better." I understand where the author is coming from - some kids really benefit from regular healthy snacks, especially protein, to stay regulated. Hangry is a real thing. A good snack is one of my go-to tools for one of my kids. But the way the book puts it, it doesn't sit right with me. Too many families struggle with eating disorders for this to be mentioned so flippantly. We still read this book and (mostly) enjoy it. My son asks for it when he's struggling with something. The team working on these books has a good thing going.

I was looking for a book at would address my daughter’s anxiety around meeting new kids and being at preschool. There were pages specific to that in addition to being upset when a babysitter came and your parents leave. All very applicable and easy to speak to. She was excited to learn the “okay” sign and I hear her going around the house saying “I’m okay” and doing the sign. Hope she can apply it when she needs to. I ordered another book in the series too.

My son had a rough start to his kindergarten year. He never wanted me to leave when I dropped him off and cried When I did have to leave. (It broke my heart) He never wanted to join his class at circle time. He always said it’s “ too much”.After purchasing this book and reading it a few times with him I think he started to get it, I think he knew he would be OK. He started going in to his class on his own and stopped crying, and now he is finally joining the class at circle or group times. I really believed this book helped. 👍

All of these ( Mantras) book are wonderful to teach young children their feeling are OK, everybody has them too, and how one may handle a problem ! Great for parents, grandparents and teachers!

Exactly what we needed after our move to a new house. My toddler was having some new fears and this seemed to help her understand it’s okay to be scared but not to worry and everything is okay. She wanted to read it repeatedly after we hit on some notes that were really bothering her
