The thing I like about Taste of Home recipes is that you can almost always count on them actually tasting good. And, they are usually pretty easy to make. Their magazine and cookbooks are made for people who enjoy eating relatively inexpensive, quick, tasty meals at home.
I bought this mainly for the slow cooker recipes, but thought I could use the other recipes as well and make some adaptations.Well, I'm not American but Taste of Home is famous enough and its books always have good reviews, so I was a bit disappointed to find that most recipes I would like to try have ingredients such as frozen meatballs, biscuit/ baking mix, condensed cream of X soup, and all kinds of store bought sauces. I mean, it's okay to use instant ingredients once in a while to put a meal together and it's not like all recipes are like that, but in my country this is not called 'cooking'...There's a large number of recipes though, hopefully I will be able to try something out.
I bought this primarily for the slow-cooker recipes. I'll try a few of them, but many are not what I consider good slow cooker material. Poach salmon in a slow cooker? Again, I'll give some of the soups and casseroles a try, but a lot of these take a bucket of packaged/canned ingredients, while I prefer simple and fresh.
I like this book a lot and specially the soups are so good, my favorite chesburger paradise soup, stuff peppers soup( I replace peppers with cabbage), awesome 😊, Veggie Salomon chowder (added coconut milk), Coconut shrimp chowder ( I added cooked potatoes to it after blended ) and more. I loved it.
Loved this cookbook!! Very good directions and mostly easy to use. Pictures are quite nice as well. Really enjoy this and use it often. Ordered it mostly for soups but use it for soooo much more. Highly recommend this cookbook!
I'm sure these are very tasty recipes but in reading the ingredients for most of them, they call for packaged, mixes, envelopes, prepared sauces and canned (mostly cream) soups. I do not cook with these as I prefer natural items.
Great recipe book.. reason for the 3-star rating is it supposed to be brand new book and the pages are dog-eared bent not please with that at all.
